Ikejime Line Caught Bass

While wild bass is, without doubt, one of the best and most beautiful tasting fish in the sea, there is nothing that tops a fish that has been caught using the ikejime method (活け締め). Developed over centuries in Japan, this incredible process delivers both the most humane way of catching a fish – killing it immediately once on board, while also preparing and bleeding it in ice water to create pearlescent meat. As a result, you get nothing but the cleanest meat to cook with while also helping the boats earn extra for their efforts.

FAQs

All fresh fish can be frozen. We recommend freezing your catch as soon as you receive your delivery. When you defrost them, it is important that you do this thoroughly before cooking. It is best if you defrost them in the fridge and use them within 24hrs . Please remember that live products like clams and mussels should never be frozen.

If you buy over £35 of our fishermen's catch, delivery from port to door is free! However, if you're just after a few little treats from the day's landings, a smaller box only costs £5.

If you need to make any special changes or would like to cancel your order, we only request that you let us know before midnight by sending us an email to ahoy@peskyfish.co.uk. This is because our port team runs a very tight ship, working to specific timeframes for grading, packing and delivery to ensure you can have your catch on the table next day!

Your order is carefully prepared and packed the following day after the evening market closes. It is then shipped to you via overnight courier, arriving with you the following day.

We are sorry to hear your order is taking longer than expected. Your order is prepared, packed and shipped the morning after your order is placed. It is then shipped on a Next-Day delivery service and should arrive throughout the following day. If it hasn't we would like to help you find out why.
Please send us an email to ahoy@peskyfish.co.uk
