Connecting customers with Skippers
Thanks to our 100% transparent chain, you will get to know each of the skippers who land your fish. With each order you'll receive detailed information about when your fish was landed, by whom and on which boat.
Here are just a few of the species you're likely to see on the market at the moment and some of the amazing people who land them.
A beautiful flat fish with delicate sweet flesh that's perfect for grilling or frying.
Darren Passmore. He's been fishing since the age of 14 and knows the water off the Devon coast so well that most Mariners would choose to go to sea with him over their compass.
This mild flavoured white fish is a more sustainable alternative to Cod and so versatile it can be grilled, baked, battered and work with a wide range of sauces and seasoning.
Catch methods don't get more sustainable than using a 'Rod and Line'. Dean Corbett, skipper of 'Clarissa' is such a prolific practitioner of this method he's known locally as the 'Hook Ninja'.
with its crisp white flesh the 'King' of the Soles has inspired so many classic dishes from Sole à la Meunière to Sole Véronique.
Darren Ready, 'The Wheelhouse Wizard' is the Skipper of the 'Two Brothers', one of the oldest boats in the fleet it's been landing Dovers since the 1970's. When Darren was a young 40 year old.
These luxurious gems are one of our best sellers. Each one is individually hand-picked then shucked on the boat so they come prepped and ready to cook.
Frazer Pugh, our very own Aquaman, dives to depths of between 8 and 22 meters for these. What a hero.

Can I have my fish filleted?
How do I know how many people each fish will feed?
As our fishermen land fish of all sizes, we've gone through each and every one to work out roughly how many people a single fish (or pack) would feed and detailed this information in the product description.
Will my fish always be the size that I've bought?
As our boats catch all shapes and sizes of fish each day, unfortunately it's not possible to be prescriptive on the exact size of fish you'll get.
However, knowing how frustrating it is when you're left short for your meal, we've labelled each fish close to the bottom of its size boundary. That means more often than not, you'll have the bonus of more fish rather than less!
There may be the odd time when it's a little bit less than the weight you've chosen, but we always keep it to less than 75g of filleted meat.
Do I always buy a whole fish from a fisherman?
Yes! As you're buying your fish directly from the fisherman, that whole fish is yours! However, instead of sending a metre long whopper, we can fillet and prepare the fish to however best suits you.
What is the cost of delivery?
If you buy over £35 of our fishermen's catch, delivery from port to door is free! However, if you're just after a few little treats from the day's landings, a smaller box only costs £5
Can I track my delivery?
Yes! Once your order has been packed and handed to our courier partner, you will receive a text from DPD with your tracking number so you can follow your fish all the way home. If you have not received this message, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
How much of the value of my order goes back to the fishermen?
On average, fishermen earn an additional 30% vs selling at their local market and up to 500% more for abundant, sustainable species that have previously never had a market. As Pesky is a 100% transparent market for fishermen to sell to all points in the chain, the full value of the fish, after distribution costs, is returned back to boats. Therefore, by buying direct, you are actively supporting the people who put in the effort to catch your fish!
Supporting the Fleet
Seasonality of species; the height of the waves; the strength of the tide - there are so many factors that impact fishermen and their ability to catch fish on a daily basis. On average, fishermen earn an additional 30% by selling their catch directly to households vs selling at their local market. For more abundant, sustainable species that previously never had a market, this can leap to up to 500% more.
