Head of Delivery / National Logistics Director

We're looking for a National Logistics Director to lead the operational delivery of our service and manage our port teams across the country to deliver multi-channel fulfilment to the highest possible standard of execution.

About Pesky

Pesky Fish is reinventing the seafood supply chain to create a more sustainable industry for fish, fishermen and consumers. We are currently delivering the country’s fastest, freshest fish (as little as 6 hours to London), returning £1,000s of incremental value to local fishermen, while building the digital platform to allow fishermen, fishmongers, chefs and consumers to trade directly.

We are a team of 25 (and growing!) working with a fleet of over 20 boats landing their catch to us across Devon and Northumberland, and we sell to a customer base of 100’s of restaurants/wholesalers and 1000’s of home consumers.

How you will add huge value to our team and our customers

As our National Logistics Director, you will lead the operational delivery of our service, managing our port teams across the country to deliver multi-channel fulfilment to the highest possible standard of execution.

Accountability for End-to-end Delivery

Overseeing a variety of functions, from boat landings and grading operations (inbound), through to end customer delivery to multiple channels, you will ensure that Pesky’s service at all points in the chain is executed impeccably and leaves all our boats and customers eager to work with us time and time again.

Managing Local Port Teams

With direct and indirect reports, you will enable and empower the teams at each of our ports to deliver an outstanding service to both our boats and customers. Overseeing multiple shifts around the clock, you’ll support and coach the functional managers to lead their shifts to deliver their respective tasks. Holding each manager to account to strive to surpass targets, whilst analysing performance data and resolving issues to enable our ports to operate like clockwork.

Managing Pesky’s Customer Success Team

Leading the team communicating and liaising with our customers. Making sure that our customers are greeted by an effective and courteous team who are able to convey and channel all communications effectively.

Fulfilment Success

We process hundreds of orders every day, to both wholesale and consumer channels. You won’t rest until you’re assured that each one of these orders has been delivered to the highest possible standard, thinking on your feet to overcome challenges, whilst driving a culture of impeccable execution throughout your team to sustain unfaltering customer success.

Reporting

Working with the wider team, you’ll ensure that data is collected from our operations accurately and timely – to allow us to monitor performance and spot trends

Continuous Improvement

Not only identifying efficiencies yourself, but driving a culture of continuous improvement throughout your teams, enabling everyone to suggest and implement enhancements to our processes. Leading regular projects to implement changes that reduce errors or increase productivity.

Accuracy and Precision

Fundamental to our marketplace platform is accuracy of the data we capture and manage in our systems, in an industry which traditionally runs of verbal conversations and estimates. You will work with your team to improve and sustain the quality of their execution, through ensuring that suitable effective tools and systems are provided and used.

Recruitment & Training

We have ambitious plans to open new sites to continue serving more boats and customers. With this expansion, you’ll need to recruit and onboard new teams, implementing our established processes to deliver Pesky’s service in new locations.

Subcontractor Management

We fulfil our orders via a mix of in-house deliveries and external contractor services. You will be the primary contact for managing the accounts, engaging closely with each party to measure and maintain performance and achieve delivery targets, and managing any claims processes.

H&S & Food Hygiene

Working with experts in our team, to implement the highest standards of safety and good practice throughout our operation.

Personality and Experience

  • Have extensive experience managing cross-functional operational teams, with a strong preference for FMCG/B2C/e-commerce background
  • You’ll thrive off empowering your team to perform to the best they possibly can do, delighting every single customer who buys from Pesky, and not settling for anything less.
  • Experience in food-handling environments is a plus.
  • Wake up in the morning, craving a challenge and eager to solve problems that will inevitably come your way.
  • Hold a full clean UK driving license, with no previous convictions or penalty points.
  • Be computer fluent, with experience of emails, office suite, and proven in-depth understanding of supply chain/order management systems.
  • Innovative and creative; we are tackling an industry full of inefficiencies, and there are plenty of problems to solve. From packaging, transport methods, grading methods and systems, we are assembling the best team possible to fix these, and you’ll be a crucial part of it.

  • 24 days’ holiday (excluding bank holidays) per year.
