Firstly, thank you so much for your order.
I wanted to message as I’m conscious that a number of you have had delay notifications from DPD today, so I wanted to take the time to address this, directly.
While December is traditionally the period of greatest pressure within the courier network, DPD are currently experiencing a compounded challenge with the new Covid variant – impacting their extensive work force. As a result, and in spite of strict service level agreement between Pesky and DPD – we are starting to see that 1 in 10 orders aren’t arriving on the day they should.
However, our brilliant operations team have spent the Autumn preparing for this contingency. I therefore want to reassure you that if any of your boxes are held for an extra day within DPD’s network, our packaging solution has been rigorously tested to maintain the quality and temperature of your fish. I know how incredibly frustrating it can be when this happens, but hopefully we can do everything we can to mitigate the impact. In addition, we have taken the following steps this week in our processes:
1 – All of your fish are being stored ahead of production between -0.5°C-1°C, ensuring that the core temperature of the meat is as low as possible before going into the packing process.
2 – We are packing all boxes in 3°C-5°C ambient air, ensuring that your fish is not only vac packed at a low temperature, but that the air inside the sealed boxes is cool from the beginning of its travels.
3 – Working with our primary packaging supplier, we have increased the volume of water inside the ice packs to provide a longer thawing period. This results in the ambient temperature inside the box dropping just below zero for the first 12-24 hours after leaving our depot.
4 – We’ve added an additional 500g Ice Pack block to every order to ensure that your box will last a second day and beyond.
In the event that your box doesn’t arrive – even after a days delay – we will of course refund the box contents. Laura in our team is constantly monitoring the status of every box, so we’ll be in touch as soon as we notice any anomaly. However, if you have any questions or are having issues with your delivery, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
All that’s left is to say a massive thank you for all of your support and hope you thoroughly enjoy your fish when it arrives in your kitchen.
All the best, Ben
